HBCU visits FMS

Today students in Mrs. Morden and Mrs. Zold's AVID clasrooms learned about footwear design from Mr. E. Scott Morris, Chair of Footwear for the Pensole Lewis College (PLC) of Business and Design. Pensole Lewis is the only Historic Black College or University (HBCU) in Michigan, partnering with some of the most renowned fashion companies in the world. Mrs. Morden arranged the opportunity for students explore college and career pathways.

Mr. Morris has designed footwear for Nike, Adidas, and even Shaq! He led an interactive lesson where students created a consumer profile for their footwear design. The students were very engaged with the presentation. Nikki Taylor, Outreach Director for PLC, and several FMS students joined in on the presentation, sharing their ideas with the class.

On Tuesday, March 19 the students will visit the Pensole Lewis campus for a tour and an opportunity to create a shoe design based on their consumer profiles.
